Does anyone have access to copies of The Milngavie and Bearsden Herald from 1962? A Down Memory Lane feature on Sunday 12 February 2012 mentioned an obituary for Mr David Lindsay of Whitehurst, Bearsden, that appeared on the front page of the paper on February 9, 1962. It summarised the obituary, and I would like to see the 1962 original if possible.

Hi Isobel, best place to contact is the Mitchell library in Glasgow. Whitehurst still exists in Bearsden. good luck.

The British newspaper archive has this paper 1904 to 1958 so unfortunately not the year you want.
It does however have an article mentioning David Lindsay of 49 Whitehurst, Bearsden "complaining about the children playing football on the open space" to New Kilpatrick District Council in 1953 ;D
If the Mitchell doesn't keep copies of this paper then the main East Dunbartonshire library should (https://www.edlc.co.uk/libraries/about-your-local-library/william-patrick (https://www.edlc.co.uk/libraries/about-your-local-library/william-patrick). The Bearsden branch certainly used to but that was more years ago than I want to admit to....
Good Luck.
