Title: Reformatory Ship AKBAR
Post by: kibbie on Wednesday 07 August 19 23:54 BST (UK)
Hi.  Hoping I can enlist the help of someone offering lookups at the Lancashire Records Office.

I am researching my great uncle John Hudson, born Bristol, 12 March 1886.  Orphaned by the age of 6, John was an inmate on the Reformatory Ship Akbar in 1901 (census).
The Records Office collection is titled: Liverpool Juvenile Reformatory Association.
Reference Number: DDX 824 (4 Miscellaneous including admission registers) (5 Additional Deposits).

I'm afraid I do not know when John was sent to the Akbar, I understand that children could be sent to a reformatory "school" for between 2 to 5 years.

Thank you @ solidrock.  I have read through the online information, whilst detailing the history of the ship there is little to no reference to individuals, so if I wish to find out more information re John Hudson a trip to Lancashire Records is neccessary.

I do not live in the UK, therefore I am relying on the generosity of others who visit the Lancashire Records Office.
