RootsChat has a "no living persons" policy.
You should not name any people who are still alive, or potentially still alive.

Apologies but I thought they might have passed on and I really wanted to know what happened to them when they arrived in South Africa as it's a stumbling block in the tree I am researching.

My parents are older and as of Saturday they're still alive ;)

If Colin was born “1925-10-11” he would have died before 2008. I haven’t been able to find a death for Kathleen.

*exact date removed
Why would he have had to died before 2008? If born 1925 would be 94ish. As I said, my parents are older and they are still alive.

Why? Because a Colin Shaw b “1925-10-11” is listed in an index for death records until 2008 (incl his wife's name = Kathleen).

That is very interesting. Is it possible to let me know where you got the information regarding Colin's passing?

If you'd mentioned that earlier I wouldn't have queried if he was still alive :-\

There are a few sites like https://www.gendatabase.com/ and https://www.identitynumber.org/ that have this information. You would have to pay if you want to know his date DOD /Location etc. I can't advise you reg the pay option because I have never required it as I don't have any personal connections to SA. There might be some other rootschatters who might be able to pass on their experiences reg the pay options.

Many thanks; I appreciate your help.

Hi gendatabase is easy to join - you can pay for as little as a day's access - for about $10. The "death" record on there will be a simple extract from the Government Gazette so it will not contain a lot of information it my give you the name of the spouse, cause of death and date of death and location of death. If you can find an estate no for either of them that would give you details of who stood to inherit.

Thank you so much.
