Title: 4th Royal Irish Regiment pre 1914
Post by: Loogie14 on Wednesday 31 July 19 11:27 BST (UK)
Hi all,
Researching my great grandad from wexford after noticing on one of his sons birth records he was listed as a pensioner of the 4th battalion. I  believe it may have been the extra reserves but I'm not sure. Any info about  this regiment would be a great help.
Thanks,
Laura

The 4th Battalion was a Special Reserve Battalion (part time) from 1908 - you don't say what date it was?

Thankyou for that MaxD,

The only information I have is that he was an army pensioner 4th royal irish regiment by october 1914.  I am hoping by learning about the regiment I will be able to get a better ubderstanding of where I need to look for records.  Thanks for the link, will have a look into it now.
