Hello,
can any one help with the name and occupation please?
The name given in the transcription is Mary* Sullcirge but I don't know why it's marked * and I'm not sure the last name is correct.
Thanks
Ian

The occupation is Annuitant, which is a pensioner or someone in receipt of a fixed sum of money each month for example.
-
The occupation is Annuitant. Not sure about the surname, that's a toughie but someone here will decipher it :)
-
The word you ask about is Annuitant, she had an annuity,a sort of pension.
I will have another look at the name,is it possible to let us see a bit more for
comparison?

Modified,
Sorry folks, your posts had not appeared when I started mine.
-
Annuitant, independent means!
Skoosh.
-
Can you give us the context - who is she with, where, which census is this?
-
It looks like Mary Sullange
-
For those who want to look, she's on RG10/1649/74/2
-
In 1861, she's down as Sullings
RG09/1071/57/5
-
Annuitant, brilliant, thank you. I must have spent an hour looking at that!
Sullings or Sullange, thanks, I'll keep looking.

She seems to be the mother* and grandmother of ?James Burns, so either she married twice or she used her maiden name. Also, the 1861 says she was the widow of a fisherman. Born circa 1785 in Norfolk in 1871 and Essex in 1861.

A Tree has Mary as nee GAGE married 1820 Essex but the entry is on FreeREG and they were Bachelor/Spinster.
