Title: Help to decipher place name
Post by: Barnford on Tuesday 30 July 19 11:08 BST (UK)
I wonder if anyone can decipher this place of birth (from the 1851 UK census). I believe the last section reads Queens County (County Laois).
Thanks

I would suggest that the start of the word is Bally...
Then possibly Ballycoolid or Ballyedmond would be my initial reading
Keeping Ballycolla (sometimes shown as Ballacolla) or Ballycuddahy in mind

I agree with Queens County Ireland

Thank you. I am also curious about the word above Queens County and whether it is a location clue.
