Hi all
how do I go about trying to pin down where a relative is buried in Scotland. Many search sites are based on the search of Headstones. What if a relative doesn't have a headstone? what is the next best way of finding out a last resting place. I am interested in William Duncan (1806-1866) and his wife Janet Kilgour (1802-1848)
any help appreciated

If you think they are buried in Fife, then IIRC the Fife Family History Society https://fifefhs.org/ has a database of deaths and burials in Fife.

I guess this is the death registration for William.
DUNCAN WILLIAM 59 Died 1866 Aberdour (Fife)
Janet died before Statutory Registration began, the old parish records on Scotland's People do have the death records for Aberdour but no Janet there or elsewhere in Fife, but not all parishes have such records.
Some details of cemeteries in the are are on GENUKI, it might be worth making contact for advice?

Dunfermline Crematorium holds records of deaths for that area. Mossgreen Cemetery has burials from that time and is about half a mile from Donibristle Village. Most burials at that time did not have headstones.
