Thank you for this. It was interesting to see the map and how close it was to Templepatrick were many of the Mckinley side lived in latter years.

Hello, I have Armstrongs on my family tree from that general area, but unfortunately don't have information going that far back. I have a John Armstrong from Dunsilly who married in 1894. His father was also called John Armstrong and he married a Mary Jane (something). The generation you are talking about would be one generation further back again I think. Let me know if you think there could be connections here.

Interested to see your post. Its quite possible there is a link as families didn't move around that much then. Unfortunately I have no information on the Armstrong's . I got Johns name from his daughters marriage certificate.
I see however that from the information from Ballyaltiklligans post above about Griffiths Valuation that there is John Armstrong from Dunsily listed as well as my Robert McKinley . So I wonder if your John A who marries in 1894 is his son.? Do you by any chance have his marriage cert ? I am wondering if we could find his birth. I am also wondering if the John Armstrong snr could be a brother to my Mary Jane Armstrong .
The witnesses to the marriage of Robert McKinley and Mary Jane Armstrong were a William Robinson and a Andy Hamill --just mentioning it in case on any documents you have . Is your tree on Ancestry ?

Hello again
I have just been on Groni and found a death record for a John Armstrong from Dunsilly who died on 27 July 1874 . He was married at the time. Age 78. Informant was a Jane Clark from Dunsilly.
Ref is d/1874/3/1001/2/320
Just wondering if he might be the father of your John Armstrong--might be of use. ?

Hello, thanks for all the advice and suggestions, really helpful. I don't unfortunately have the marriage certificate for John Armstrong who married in 1894. I have however found the record on irishgenealogy website. It noted his father's name as John Armstrong and that he was a farmer. I haven't used GRONI yet, so that is my next task, to set up an account there with user credits. As you say, people from that time didn't move around much, so there is likely to be a connection I think. I will look further.
-
In response to another of your queries, yes my family tree is on Ancestry. What about yourself?
-
Grateful if you would post findings. Really interested to lean more.
-
Yes Mine is also on Ancestry. Will send you a personal message with name.
