Hi i am looking for information on the closed and them emptied burial ground vicars croft, I am looking for the remains of Owen kelly and his wife ann, both born in Ireland, around 1826, Moved to wakefield,On the 1881 census as woolpacks yard, Owen was a fishmonger, Now i have the register of burial in 1891 for ann and 1900 for owen, Wakefield borough burial ground grave no 1663 sec h.All saints.Roman catholic portion, I was worried that they had been buried in vicars croft which seems to be connected to all saints in wakefield but now think burials ended there in 1888,So i have grave numbers but cant find where,Im told that if i want to check they werent in vicars croft i have to go to kew in surrey, not possible and a search is over £100.Any ideas at all would be very much appreciated,

Where did those burial records come from? Can you relate EXACTLY what the record(s) state?
To me, it sound like the cemetery on Doncaster Road.

Hi yes they are from wakefield council burial records, They are rgister of burials Wakefield borough burial grounds, and state the age abode and parish or district where it states all saints, and shows grave no as 1663, section h. Also states roman catholic section.
-
Surely then, "All Saints" is simply the district of the town where they died.
It's not unusual to segregate burials according to religion.
-
all the listings on the page include particular churches so i was just looking at the all saints church ,Other than that i dont have any idea but will look at Doncaster Rd
-
You do realise that we can't "see" that page?.
Are there heading(s) at the top of the columns? What do they say?
-
They say the year (1891), The date (May 15), the name (Ann kelly, Age(62 Years, The abode which is Woolpacks yard, Parish or district (All saints), Section and grave no.signature of minister.( O Rielly.Across the top it has register of burials, Wakefield borough burial ground, Roman catholic portion,If i was any good at putting pictures on here i would but unfortunatley im not, Nothing else on there.
-
So that confirms that they were interred at Wakefield borough burial ground. (Sugar Lane/ Doncaster Road).
All Saints is/was the parish of demise.
Don't expect there to be a headstone, even if you know the plot number and section.
