Hi There

Information from Family Search

Was John born in Plymouth around 1877?

If yes the family were living in Willesden in 1901 and there were two children:-
John H Hooper aged 2 and Alfred J Hooper aged 0

The same family is still living in Willesden in 1911 - although John place of birth is Bristol.
There are no children present in 1911.

Hope this helps

So what happened to Ellen. Any chance she might be the Nellie Hooper with grandparents. CHarles and Dora Tyler in 1911 census.  If so what would be the connection to John and Clara Knight. Thankyou

Bessie Dorcas married a Martin & is on 1939 so she should be around in 1911.

ADDED: a tree on ancestry states that in 1911 John & Clara said they'd been married 10 yrs. children 8-5-3. The tree seems to be of a descendant of Rosina.

See a few marriages for the children but not seeing them in 1911
Possible marriage 1902 Paddington
Clara Jane Knight
John Thomas Hooper
As there is no children with John and Clara 1911 makes you wonder if they were boarded out somewhere .. ???

Free index to 1939 might have her as Elizabeth
With Frank Quinnell, both born in 1905
Living in Willesden, the index now includes address, 17 Dorchester Court

Is Ellen May Quinnell on the electoral register.

Good thinking - possibly
Marriages Sep 1866
AGER    John        Hendon    3a   173
DAVIS    Dorcas        Hendon    3a   173
Furner    Annie M        Hendon    3a   173
KNIGHT    John        Hendon    3a   173

ADDED: John & Dorcas living 14 Alpha Place in 1881, found on 1871, 1881, 1891 but not 1901

Deaths Dec 1908
KNIGHT    Dorcas    64    Hendon    3a   155

Might John & Clara's children be in an institution & in census under initials?

After cross reference have decided that the Ellen  Hooper mother mmn Knight is not my Hooper family  So the Nellie  Hooper in 1911 census living with grandparents  Charles and Dora Tyler might be mine. Their daughter Lucy married Sydney Hooper in 1904 , Sydney died 1907 Are there any electoral records for Charles and Dora Tyler and maybe their daughter Lucy and granddaughter Nellie Hooper Any ideas where I can further my research in regard with Nellie Hooper Thankyou

Nellie May Hooper marries Henry James Hersey in 1930 in Farnham. Born. 1906 Died 1959. This is all the information which I started from. The odd thing is that both Christian names of the father’s of the bride and groom are down as Henry James. Believe Nellie’s father’s might be a mistake. Also Nellie’s. father was deceased by time of marriage Now working on entry from 1911 census when a Nellie was living with her grandparents (Tyler). Thanks for all your assistance. Eirwen

Now working on entry from 1911 census when a Nellie was living with her grandparents (Tyler).

I thought I had eliminated her. Place of birth was Battersea.
Registrations in Wandsworth for her and her sister Lily.
Nellie's birth is registered as Helen Dora Jessie Hooper, mother Tyler, Sep 1905, 1d 528

1930 electoral register, Great Amwell, Hertfordshire
Hooper, Ellen Dora Jessie, at Haileybury College

Married in Hertfordshire in 1933.

This has probably been posted before
Burial at Ash St Peter in Surrey, 28 May 1959
Nellie May Hersey, age 53, abode 49 Wyke Avenue Ash

That is her address in 1939, again I believe the details have been posted before on one(!) of the previous threads, so I can say that her d-o-b was 25.5.05

1932 electoral register has Ernest and May Hersey at 2 Arthur's Cottages, Ash. I believe living with his parents.
1933 at 49 Wyke, Ernest George and Nellie May Hersey.

Here is something interesting!

Death
Sep 1955 Bournemouth 6b 114
Hersey, Philip John
age 26

Probate for Philip John Hersey, of 49 Wye-avenue Ash (should be Wyke!), an administration granted to Nellie May Hersey.
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=hersey&yearOfDeath=1955&page=1#calendar

Now, we know that Ernest and Nellie married in 1930, their first child seems to be registered in 1932 in Hartley Wintney district

So who was Philip John? There is this possible birth
June 1929 St George Hanover Sq 1a 533
Hooper, Philip J.
mother Hooper

Would it be worth getting the certificate?

John - you manage to find such good stuff...

Philip was buried at Ash St Peter.

I think, eirwen, that rosie is trying to establish how you got to Nellie? Is it through a chain of documented events back from you or whoever you are helping research?
