I'm trying to locate the death record of Richard Westall, either in England or Australia. He was born circa 1807 Rochdale,Lancs. and was married in 1825 Rochdale to Mary Collinge. They had 2 children,James, born 1824 and Edward Frances in 1826/27.
Richard was convicted at Lancaster Quarter Sessions in Jan.1832 for stealing a calf from a Rochdale slaughterhouse. He was sentenced to 7yrs. confinement ,arriving in Van Diemens Land in Aug.1832.I can not find any record of his prison release or his death in Australia. If Richard returned to England,I've not been able to locate him in any census or any death record.
Mary, his wife, is listed as married in 1841 census, living with her sons,James and Edward. They have all been found in future census records. Mary apparently never remarried.
Any advice or help in finding when & where Richard died would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Convict record for Richard Westall per Lord William Bentinck here
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01nz1/
Sentence time expired and certificate of freedom granted at end of 1838

A Richard Westall, passenger on the Comet for Swan River (Western Australia) and Batavia in early 1839

His convict record mentions his "pay stopped for 3 months" as sub-overseer, so he likely had accumulated some money to enable him to travel.

This has caught my eye because it would seem to be a dual use of the surnames LOVETT and WESTALL
Surname WESTALL
Given name Francis
Age 49
Father Unknown
Mother Unknown
Place of birth Unknown
Reg 445
Year 1852
Surname LOVETT
Given name Francis
Age 49
Father Unknown
Mother Unknown
Place of birth Unknown
Reg 445
Year 1850
The 2 year difference in year of death is a mystery to me ???

EDIT
ADDING.
They are from the West Aust. Death Index online.

Noting here that son Edward has the feminine version of the name printed here, but perhaps that was slip of the pen, intended to be FRANCIS.
I wonder if it was a family name and that being the possible reason for Richard to select it as an alias.
Just speculating really.

The 1841 census didn't show anyone's marital status, so she isn't listed as married.
In 1851 she's listed as a widow with a visitor called John BRADY who is said to be married.
