I was impressed with this.
Go to this web site,
http://www.drawmyfamilytree.co.uk/gedcom_viewer.php
and use the CHOOSE FILE button at the bottom. Navigate to your GEDCOM file. Then use VIEW.
Wait a few seconds while it loads. Then scroll up and down.

Martin,
Yes, very interesting. Even I could use it.
Thank you.

An ahnentafel file does a better job. I think that most gen progs have them but it's easy to use & useful if you don't have one.
I notice it's also printable.

Thanks for that, Martin.
This will be very handy for emailing relatives.

I think it is going to be very useful to people. I think it is a new facility, and I have noticed a couple of bugs. I contacted the developer:
"I've found a couple of bugs. I am a retired software tester, so I know what I am talking about. For example, if you have a note attached to a record, and that note has hard carriage returns, the lines are concatenated without inserting a space. Also there are instances of the first line of notes being removed. Finally, I have an unresolved oddity. There is confusion between the two wives of a person. I can't find an error in my data, but your report shows the second wife marrying the man when she is aged three. It is looking at the wrong date."
If I get a reply, I will update this thread.

I was just going to complain about missing people, when I discovered that I was using a very old .ged file.

I have noticed the omission of my sister, who was a twin. I have reported that, after checking the integrity of the GEDCOM file. I like helping people change 99% perfect to 100%, so I always report bugs. Sometimes I get thanked!

Just marking this so I have a link for later.

Looks great, but...
Ah, the usual problem. 2Mb maximum. I just don't have a gedcom that small.

2Mb maximum. I just don't have a gedcom that small.
I tried it with a tree containing over 2,500 people & the GEDCOM came in at 650Kb.
Over 2Mb. you must be looking at 9-10,000 at least !
-
No Jim, well below that,. Must be all the Notes. A few life stories in there.
-
Chris, does your database not have an option to export to GEDCOM without notes?
Martin
-
Seems not.
But when I import it to Anc*** they don't import the notes. So I'll try exporting one from there & see how it goes!
-
Inexplicable. It seems Anc*** does import the notes with the gedcom - but doesn't display them! The re-exported file was still over 2Mb - the notes were still on it! Go figure.
No, I'm not going to go through my gedcom deleting all the notes. Takes too long, and one false move and you invalidate it.

After recommending this online GEDCOM viewer I found several bugs. I reported them, and got the following reply from the developer. I have tested it and confirmed to him that he has fixed them.
