I need some help sorting out the data I have found for Charles Henry Sweet and Annie Matilda Knight. I know they married in 1893 in Lambeth and had 5 children. We were told by an Aunt that either Charles or one of his Sons worked at the Royal Dalton Lambeth pottery. We were given a pot made there and have found that it was made between 1891 and 1927. I cannot find any records of this and even though I was told there are records of employees of the Lambeth pottery I cannot locate them. Any ideas? I suspect that a relation did work for the potteries but which one is a mystery.
Also on the 1939 register Ernest Sweet's occupation - he is a nephew of Charles Henry - is listed as a fish fryer formerly Yard Dower. What is a Yard Dower?
Many thanks

When was Ernest Sweet born, please?

In 1881, 1901 and 1911 censuses Charles Henry is a carpenter and joiner so most unlikely to be the one who made the pot.

Regarding the pottery (Doulton rather than Dalton) - there is info online e.g.:
https://vauxhallhistory.org/doulton-potter/
You may be able to date the pot more precisely by looking at when the company changed its name or when it received the royal warrant.

Have you looked at the image for Ernest Sweet as his occupation could have been mistranscribed.

I know that look-ups of the 1939 register are not allowed but BoBo clearly has access so I think that the second word of Ernest's former occupation is probably "Driver".
