I am trying to trace information re John Maloney, born 1833 in Southwark. He married my 2nd great grandmother Emma Blair in 1862. He was a widower when he married.
He already had 2 daughters, Maryann born 1853 and Sarah born 1858. He had Alice born 1863 with Emma Blair,
In 1864, he lived at 173, Albany Rd, Camberwell. His father was John Maloney and was a poulterer, he was born in Ireland.
Thanks
Linda

Hello,
Is your John a different one to those mentioned here? If so, it would be best to have a separate thread. Just click ‘report to moderator’ and ask for a new thread to be started with your post.
Is this your John in 1871 which you may have?
280/47/46
John Maloney 38 yrs
Emma Maloney 34 yrs
Maryann Maloney 18 yrs
Sarah Maloney 13 yrs

What information are you looking for? Do you have all census information?

For information
1861 337/8/9
Emma Blair 22 yrs boarder and John Maloney 29 yrs boarder with daughter Mary.
1861 331/155/27
Sarah Maloney 3 yrs is a Niece in the household of Richard and Jane Thornton. I think it is niece although transcribed as ‘nurse’.
There is a marriage in 1839 for Richard Thornton to Jane Shay.
Sarah’s birth gives mother as Shay.
-

1851 1557/192/53

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
Gives mother’s maiden name. You need to sign in and go to GRO indexes, then search.
Mary Ann’s birth also shows Shay.
-
That GRO site also shows a death:
Sarah Maloney 29 yrs in 1860, Newington.
It may be John’s wife /Sarah’s mother ???
I can’t see a marriage for John to Ms Shay , can you?

Hi
Unfortunately I am at work at the moment but will look into this tonight when I get home.

With regard to Sarah and Mary Ann Maloney, the older girl Mary Ann Maloney has on a census she was born in Ireland.

Yes, I saw that but there is a possible birth as I mentioned.
Does she show Ireland as her birthplace in all censuses?
-
It shows Ireland as being in 1 census, will try to look for other census naming her.
Thanks
