Could anyone help me. I'm searching for a female MARCHANT. Born after 1905 probably. Sister to Wallenstein Marchant, born 1906 Lambeth records. Only have nickname of Nina/Nyna. Maybe someone has access to Lambeth Parish records? I know the family lived sub-district Kennington/possibly Norwood, poss Croydon. Nyna married two brothers (names unknown). First husband died, I think during 2nd world war or possibly at North Africa. Then she married his brother. I am stumped with this one. Would appreciate any help. Many, many thanks.

Hi Petunia
Wouldn't FreeBMD searching for simply the MARCHANT surname in Lambeth district be a more productive way of doing it? I've just had a look and find 14 female Marchant births in Lambeth between 1900 and 1910, but I don't see which of them would be Nina... ???
Sorry

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for replying. Yes, I have been looking thru@ freebmd and have ruled out (with the help of the Registry Office) all of the girls except Lily Louisa. I thought I had found her with Katherine May (Nina was a nickname) and unfortunately there are no surviving relatives that can tell me her married name. So after Lily I guess I have to start trying to find a Will for her Father via death certificate for him - which I don't have either and don't know know when he died. I appreciate your input, any other ideas, give me a shout! :)

Hi
Just doing some housekeeping on the London and Middlesex boards and going through the oldest posts. Now there are further resources available it gives a chance for old posts to be looked at again to see if the information can be found or the chance for posters to say whether this information has been answered and this topic can be completed. If it can be completed please put completed into the title of this topic and it can be moved to London and Middlesex completed (it is never lost off Rootschat) giving more space for other topics to be looked at again by all of us to see if we can help. If you are still looking for the information perhaps you can now add further details to help others search again for you.
I would have thought the 1911 census has now sorted this query for you - it looks like Lily Lousia is the correct birth.

Hi Valda. Thank you for your reply. I found out - from the 1911 census, when it came out - that Lily Louisa is actually a sister I never knew existed to Nina. Happily I (or rather with the help of others) found Nina and have been reunited with her daughters. It was a fantastic happy ending and we have remained in contact ever since.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone on Rootschat who help other people find relatives and of course all the moderators!

I think my grandmother may have been Mary Elizabeth Satterley who was married to a Marchant and came from London. She died in 1933 in Ramsgate leaving a child aged 5 (my mother). The Mr. Marchant was not my mothers father.
Am new to all this so hope somebody can help.
Thank you. Jan

Hi Jan
Welcome to Rootschat.
Unfortunately vrm525 has not been on Rootschat since June 2009 but hopefully they may see your post. Otherwise I would suggest starting a new topic of your own and specifying what information you woulod like Rootschatters to try to find for you. Hi Jan,
Just come back on to Rootschat after a long spell of absence! Read your comment re your Grandmother who was married to a Marchant. She does sound like the same lady that I have been researching. If you still visit Rootschat I would love to hear back from you again,
All the best,
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,
The only info I have on my grandmother is her death certificate where she is listed as Mary Elizabeth Marchant. Died on 04.02.33 at Ramsgate hospital aged 42. Wife of Walter Marchant a dock labourer.
I have this week been told that she came from London and left her husband and five children and then had my mother with a William Charles Barnett who I also cannot trace.
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks a lot. Jan

Hi Jan. I've only just come back to Rootschat, hence the long pause in my reply!
I don't think your Mary Elizabeth is from my tree. Definitely not a Walter Marchant in my family or that she had five children.
I will go back and have another look, but pretty sure.
All the best, Vanessa
