Post by: Mr.S. on Sunday 05 May 19 15:00 BST (UK)
Michael Slattery was born in 1850s and his death certificate gave Mary Murray as his mother. Trying to find out about his mother who lived in Ballina area.

Where did Michael die?

Do you have other records about him?

Does his death certificate quote Ballina mother/his birthplace?

What religion was he?

Sorry for all the questions but there is not much to go on in your query.

Adding to Heywood's questions.
Where was Michael Slattery born?
Do you know name of his father?
Are there any census returns for Michael?

Michael died at Tarbrax in 1911 age  given as 50.Parents given as Patrick Slattery and Mary Judge. However a civil court gave his mother as Mary Murray-1867 Slattery V Pat Loftus at Ardnaree. Michael was in the army-Norfolk regiment until 1779 and discharged in Glasgow(AR).
Married Mary Nally(or McNally) in 1880 and initially lived at Westwood then later at West Calder.

Can you just clarify re mother. Your first post has Murray from death certificate but now you have Judge - also from death certificate.

And Michael was in the army-Norfolk regiment until 1779. 82 years before he was born

Sorry, I am back again with a query.
I can only see transcripts of Scottish censuses but 1891 and 1901 show Michael Slattery’s wife as Margaret  :-\

Is it definite that the court case was the right family?
Where are the details?

A previous query, unfortunately, you received no response.

Hi, i am interested in any Slatterys in ballina Poorhouse between 1855 and 1872.My greatgrandfather Michael slattery was born there,~1857,mother was Mary Slattery.Michael served in the army in 1870s,may have served in India, and was discharged in Glasgow in 1880.

Do you have a baptism or is this from an army record? It might be that his mother was unmarried.

Sorry for my mistakes. Margret was wife of Michael Slattery, she had a brother Owen who lived in Loganlee/Addiewell.
Michael was in the army from 1867 as a boy soldier, just over 4 Years then as a full soldier for 7+ years ,leaving in June 1879. He got married in May,1881 at the catholic church in Bathgate.

Thanks

Are you able to give some context re the court case?
Is it definitely referring to his mother?

What information does the marriage certificate have about his father?

I just added a bit there about his father but I think Scottish marriage certificates give more parental information.
