I am looking for Thomas Costigan . This is what i know about him so far. He was born in Ireland in 1844 to Thomas Costigan b Ireland 1809 and Bridget b Ireland 1811. i have him in the 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses. He married Alice Stone in West Bromwich in October 1864. She was born in Wednesbury in 1845 she died in Wednesbury in 1886. They lived in Pitts Square Wednesbury. They had the following children . Thomas b 1865, Eliza b1866 . James b1869, Annie b 1873, Mary 1877,Catherine b1880, and John b1883d 1885. His wife Alice died in July 1886 when a derelict house in which they were collecting wood to burn on the fire collapsed on them killing Alice and a neighbour instantly . And fracturing the spine of another neighbour. Thomas sailed for New york on the ship Arizona from Liverpool - Queenstown -New York . He arrived in New York on the 8 March 1887 he sailed alone he left his children back in England . What happened to him when he got to America . Where did he go ???. Any help would be most welcome.

Hi there,
The Arizona ship manifest that I can see, lists a Thomas Costigen, Carpenter, Citizen of England, had two pieces of luggage. The Manifest is damaged - his age is not visible.
Your Thomas was a Puddler (1861 & 1871) and a Forge Man (1881).
Are there definite reasons why you'd know the man travelling is your Thomas?
Cheers

According to his great grand daughter he went to America .

I have looked with no luck either and Maureen’s find looks very interesting. It seems to fit. It would be worth checking the death certificate.

I will thank you for your help.

I don’t know anything about this site - you have to pay for records but it seems to show a burial record for Thomas Costigan 1890.

There may not be much information on the burial record :-\. It seems to be £2 per record

Hi Sue
Have you checked the marriages for his children to see if he was deceased on them

Thanks Marg - that looks good.
I saw some Catholic baptism records for the children on Family Search so the burial fits.
