Hi all it is nice to be back please can any one repair, date, and help with reading back of photo please I would be very grateful dave
-
Here's my offering on the photo. The text will be more work later.
Hope you enjoy!

I think the first word is Khakis.
And down the bottom is North. Something starting with C
-
A try from me, regards, John.
-
My try at the photo.
And with the back of the card I tried to separate detail from damage... but I still don't know what it says. Bear in mind that I may have made a number of mistakes - painting over what should have been detail or leaving what should have been painted out - but perhaps it will help someone to work it out.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Dave, the writing on the back of your photo is really difficult to read. Could it be an address at the bottom? I have found 23 North Court in Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire or 23 North Crescent in Featherstone, Wolverhampton or Clipstone, Mansfield or Durham or Easington, Peterlee or Washington, Tyne and Wear. Do any of these addresses mean anything to you? Here is my version of the photo.
-
Is the scribble above North initials?
JW?
The word right at the top, Brown....
-
Top line says "Brown Eyes" second line says "Khaki ??????" (Uniform)
John.

Nice one John...It looks like the photographer's notes for the hand colouring for the artist. The surname and address of the sitter...possibly..Ellis....73 or 23, North Cammish/Carnish ?
For a date I would say 1940s or 50s. I have a 1950s hand tinted photo that looks very similar. It could have been a head and shoulders shot taken from a group photo.

thank you carol

Not certain but it could be "Ellis"...whatever it says, I believe it to be the surname then the address of the sitter. He may just be a family friend rather than a relative. Still not sure whether the number is 73 or 23 ::)
