Title: What does this death registration read and mean?

In the 1855 death registration of Robert Barclay (notified by a son Thomas) there is a list of his 10 children. In the clip:

 - John is listed as 44 and living, which makes sense as I have a birth for him in 1811.

 - Alex(ande)r  is listed as 42, which makes sense with the birth record I have for 1813. But what does the rest of his entry read? I suspect he was dead by 1855 - does this confirm that? Seems odd to record the age that he would have been had he lived, but there are 4 entries like this

[There's a later child shown as 3 months old, because he was born and died  in 1817, so consistency may not be this guy's strong point.]

Usually when I have came across 1855 certificates it states how many children living and how many dead, but looking at this one I would say "deceased Oct 1827". That's my guess.

Thanks, I have found 1855 registrations as you describe. This one is odd.

But I should have said that the other entries for apparently deceased children all read the same way.  It's a stretch to believe they all died in October.

If the death dates for several children are consistent then it may have been the result of an epidemic or an accident.

JOHN 1811, ALEXANDER 1813, ELIZABETH 1815, ROBERT 1817, THOMAS 1820

Robert age 65 is on the 1841 census with his two youngest children Margaret & Thomas.
Abode Swinton Old Monkland.

Sadly no death records for Old Monkland on SP prior to Statutory Registration.

How lucky you are with Scottish records.  So much information given.  Fortunately! my grandfather died in Scotland so I was able to get his mother's name from that, having been unable to find his marriage certificate.  I did find it in the end in Wales despite both grandparents coming from Yorkshire.

Mary probably married as above and on census returns at Old Monkland

BARCLAY   JANET   JOHN RUSSELL   14/11/1831   Old Monkland or Coatbridge
Janet married as above and on census returns at Old Monkland before moving to Kilmarnock

Two possible marriages for Elizabeth but no records after. No trace of others.
