Hello,
I've just begun searching my family tree and am a complete novice. However, I came upon this site and your post whilst looking for Robina Brash and family. My gt,gt,gt grandfather was Ebenezer Milner and he married a Robina Culbertson Brash in South Leith Parish church. I understand that her mother is Agnes Henderson and her father David Brash. Is this a connection to your family?
I apologise in advance if I am barking up the wrong tree.
Regards
Cheryl

Hello Cheryl and welcome .
No , you are certainly not barking up the wrong tree!
Indeed my 3x Gt Grandparents were David Brash and Agnes Henderson.
I am decendant from their son John Brash , who was my Gt Grandfather.
I have quite a lot of info on the family, and if I can help then just contact me.
regards Dolly

Hi Dolly,
thank you for your quick reply and I'm glad that I am correct in thinking that you are related to the Brash family. My line is on my mother's side but in actual fact it was my nan that told me lots of stories about her family roots in Scotland and I'm hooked on finding out as much as I possible can. Please bear with me if I ask some inane questions as I'm just starting out.
Tragically my 3 x gt grandfather Ebenezer Milner and his wife Robina died within a month of one another in 1866. They were only in their 40's-leaving 3 children, one of which went to live with a David Rollo the son-in law of David and Agnes. Do you have any info on the Rollo's?
Would love to know all about the wider family.
Regards
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, I am afraid I do not have much info on the Rollo side, only that which is on the census.
You are lucky that you had your Nan to relate the past to you.
That which I do have is mainly on the Brash side, tho'
I live in Northumberland , so you can imagine how difficult it is to find much info on the Scotch families.
I have all the marriages of David & Agnes' family , ,but if there is anything specific you want then if I can help I'd be happy to do so .If you mail me from the personal box on Roots, I will give you my private email if you'd like to go that way. Regards Dolly

Thank you Dolly,
I would appreciate that, I don't have the option on here yet to send you a personal message, I think I have to do a few more posts first?? Arrgh...
I live near Oxford but I visited Edinburgh and Leith last year and walked the area where David and Agnes lived at one time. (Giles st). Have you been? It's a fantastic place and hope to go back early next year.
Yes I'm glad my Nan gave me lots of pointers but there are so many things I would love to know. Do you have any photos?
My trouble is, is that I am easily side-tracked and find I'm looking for one person and then go off at a tangent and find myself absorbed in another! I guess that's part of the intrigue tho! lol
