Title: Coney Weston baptism
Post by: garywilson1 on Tuesday 02 April 19 08:35 BST (UK)
Hello , is anyone able to check the Coney Weston baptism register or BTs for 1768 please ?  FreeREG has an "Ohil"  Seaman and an "Or_bert" Seaman both baptised 7 Jul 1768 .

I am hoping one of these is , in fact , Samuel Seaman , my 4x gt grandfather .

Many thanks in advance ,

Gary.

Suffolk Baptism Index has the names as Phil and Robert, sons of Clare and Mary Seaman.

There is a Samuel Seaman baptised 11 July 1763 in Hepworth to Thomas and Judith.

Hello emeltom,
Many thanks for your replies . Not Samuel then at CW unfortunately . I do believe his parents were Clear ("Clare")  and Mary (Hannor) who maried at CW in 1757.
I think the 1763 baptism may be too early . Also the name "Clear" features in later generations and it seems to be very uncommon name .

I believe i have Samuel's death certificate in 1848 which states he was 80 - thus born c.1768. But i also have him on the 1841 census when he says he is 60 , thus born much later c1781 .

Best regards ,

Gary.

Birth dates on the 1841 Census are usually out by a few years as the Enumerators rounded them down to the nearest 5 years.

Looking on the Suffolk Baptism Index and on familysearch Clare and Mary had three sons baptised at the same time. The other son was Isaac. No sign of a Samuel anywhere.

I found the Coney Weston baptisms quite tricky to decipher.  From what I could make out -
Mary d/o Clare and Mary Simon baptised 29th September 1765
