Looking for information on James George Bristow b 1863 Brighton, England d. 1951 Dunedin NZ, married Matilda Clara Jarvis b 1870 d 1923
-
Not finding any birth registration for James or baptism so far. When and where did he marry Matilda and when did he arrive in New Zealand?
-
The death registration in New Zealand suggests that he was born in 1868 not 1863.
Added: Do you have his death certificate? If so what does it say?
-
They certainly had plenty of children, 12 between 1885 and 1920.

Presuming you have the marriage and death certs?
What are the details?
I don't see a good candidate for James' arrival.

NZ BDM death
1951/24196 BRISTOW James 83Y
Burial Andersons Bay Cemetery has age 83 years, 79 years in NZ. He arrived in New Zealand as a child.
Matilda Clara BRISTOW died 1923, age 53 years...50 years in NZ....born Channel Islands.
He dies as James BRISTOW. He is buried as James BRISTOW. As father of his children he is James BRISTOW. Where do you see him as James George?
Can you list the information on his death record please.

Hi
I do not have any certificates. This is from family and other info I have found on the internet.
It is possible that he is just James Bristow. I've not been able to find anything and the dates could definitely be different.
They were definitely married in Dunedin NZ but I couldn't find James arriving in NZ or any of his relatives. It may be he wasn't born in Brighton?????
I also only have 4 children for James and Matilda though Matilda's family all from Jersey were a large family and many of the jersey ones seems to be.

Well then, your first step is to order printouts of James death certificate which you can do online and the marriage certificate, which I think you will have to phone them about because for some reason it is not showing up in the official index. Have your credit card ready.
Order the PRINTOUT not a certificate, it is cheaper and has slightly more information and will come by email as a PDF.
It is possible someone in your family actually has these certificates already. Have you asked?
