Could anyone visiting Durham Records office spare a few moments to look at the burial register for Gateshead, St Mary, and check out the Burial Record for Mary Washington who (according to an Ancestry tree) died 22 Sept 1774. Is there any other information on the record?
Thanks

hi Sue,
not sure but have a feeling those records will be at Tyne Wear archives.

The entry is in Durham Records online and all it says is the date and her name, so its highly likely to be all there is on the record. The info for this parish is that this time frame was transcribed from the original register.
The LDS have digitised this film, its only viewable from the Family History Centres though.

An FHC may be a lot easier/nearer for you to visit, if no one else can help I'll have a look next time I visit the one nearest us.

Thank for the offer Boo. If no one else can assist at the archives, then maybe next time you are at the FRC you could have a quick look, but this is NOT urgent. Your posting caused me to lateral think and I remembered that Family Search has BT's on line, and Gateshead is included. The bad news is, that the BT's for 1774 do not appear to be complete and burials stop in about July, with the next page being 1777. Interestingly one or two entries had other information, but that was not the norm.

I am not sure that they wont be locked again, so if its not available and you want the record PM me as I saved it just in case.
