Title: Customs excise staff service registers
Post by: Dave Muckle on Saturday 02 March 19 17:46 GMT (UK)
I understand that a lot of records have been digitalised on the SOG website but they are officers born after 1833, any idea where I need to look for someone born before that?  I'm going round in circles for my sins.

many thanks

First, you need to determine whether your man was in Customs or Excise. At these early dates they were two different services.

These two research guides will show you what records are available for each service ...

Listed as an Outside Customs Officer, will have a read and see what I can find out.  Thanks
