Title: Halls marriages
Post by: MacGrigor on Friday 01 March 19 16:52 GMT (UK)
Hello,

I’m looking for the marriages of:

William and Susan Halls, who were christening children in Radwinter in the early 1720s
John and Alice Halls, who were christening children in Radwinter in the mid 1690s

Neither couple married in Radwinter.

I’d appreciate any help!

Adam

Hi
The nearest I can see is
John Halls married Alice Miller at Clavering 1667 on Boyds marriage index.

Are there any christenings for a John Hall nearby to Radwinter? He wasn’t christened in the parish.

I’ve had a breakthrough with Judith Halls (formerly Portway). She was christened Porter in Wimbish in 1777, but her father had married as Porterway. It appears they used both forms. So anyway, if anyone can find out any of this information it’d be greatly appreciated:

Burials for Joseph and Isabella Porter/Portway. Christening children in Wimbish up until 1780

Christening for Dorothy Mansfield, born c. 1707 (married in Wimbish in 1731)

Christening for Mary Pates, born c. 1668 (married in Wimbish in 1689)

Thanks :)

I should also add that although there is a Judith Portway christened in Radwinter in 1775, she is a cousin to my Judith, as her father Isaac Portway (born Porter) was her uncle. My Judith Halls stated she was born in Wimbish in the 1851 Census.

I found the marriage for William Mansfield and Anne Butcher in Wimbish in 1701. Both were widowed. Can anyone find anything more? I’ve already read through the Radwinter records (adjoining parish).

Thanks! I don’t have a christening for her husband Richard Porter either.

Anything more on the Pates family would be greatly appreciated. I’ll search the Radwinter registers now just in case.

Yes. That’s the earliest Essex date I have now, which is roughly in line with most other counties. Thanks for all your help!
