My great grandmother Alexis Robb born in Premnay Aberdeenshire 1859 and died in Romford in 1950. She had at least 8 children including my grandfather Ernest Lewis or Louis Furze and her husband is shown as George Furze but there appear to be no marriage records for them at all. I suppose it is possible that they never married but I think that would be unusual for that time in history. Is there any reason why their marriage record is not traceable?

'I suppose it is possible that they never married but I think that would be unusual for that time in history'
not unusual for some of the families that I have looked at.
Have 3 generations of unmarried mothers in one lot.
Children from England or Scotland?
-
I am assuming all children born in England as George Furze was was the London area
-
No Furze marriage or births on Scotlands People
First child appears to be George in 1883 Fulham

They are shown as from London.
The 1911 census will give years of marriage (actual or claimed) - have you found them there?

Looking at George’s birthdate on the 1939 register there is no birth reg for him on freebmd.
Possible 1861 has him with parents George & Ellen in Farnham Surrey

He has a sister on 1861, her birth:

Having done some more research today his birth date is probably 1857 Farnham Surrey as shown on the census and the marriage year is shown as 1883
-
His birthdate on the 1939 register is not as you say above. See replies 6 & 7

1891 may have him as 1857/1856, 1901 has him as 1861/1860. 1939? 1911?
Added: Sorry, CaroleW, did not see your reply on next page - however I agree with you.

Years married = Removed by moderator as this information is not available from a free search
I see no F*RZE George marriage between 1880 and 1885
Have you fully investigated Alexis. Was she previously married, but not widowed or divorced, thus preventing a second marriage?
-
Very confused here as on the 1891 census George Furze is stated as birth 1857 and on the 1911 census his birth is stated as 1861. They are the same person as the wife and children names are all the same. Have looked for more on Alexis Robb. I can’t find another marriage, she was still single at age 21 and living in Alford Aberdeenshire so I have no clue as to why their supposed marriage is recorded on census as being 1883 yet there appears to be no record of marriage anywhere. My cousin in the UK has her bible with all of the children’s birth dates recorded in it, I will ask if there is any other information in the bible.

The 1911 census was completed by the householder - not an enumerator. Put simply - people lied.
You will not find many census entries where people are exactly 10yrs older than they were on the previous one so ages are “fluid” and when searching for entries we always show a birthyear + or - between 2 and 5 yrs
I suggest you look at the 1939 entry which gives his full birthdate - not an age
