Hello,
I am looking for any information on Andrew Connolly pre-1911, his siblings, or his father. From this 1911 census (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001510616/), it states that Andrew was born in County Cavan and was born in 1875. He married Jane Houston(not 100% it's spelled that way) on Dec. 25, 1900, Belfast RC Church, Parish Belfast Urban 10. Died in 1928 and buried in Drumcree Cemetery. Roman Catholic. If you are able to find anything please let me know. I've been using ancestry to trace my ancestors, and the Irish side has been the hardest to find information, which is what I'm curious about the most lmao :-X Hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction.
Thank you!

From his marriage cert his father was Patrick a railway porter

Do you have his mother's name from the church record of his marriage?

I do not. I don't even have a document, my aunt just wrote all this information down for me. I have the marriage number of #370915 if that can do anything. Also, I wasn't 100% sure if this record was correct since I didn't know his father's name, but I have this document that is Andrew's birth registry (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1875/03100/2136672.pdf). It has his mother's name and maiden name, the only problem is I can't read the handwriting...... This one states Patrick's occupation is a shipmaker?.
Also any specific reason why there are two different spellings of the names? Andrew Conolly/Connolly and Jeanie/Jenney Houston?
Anyway thanks for finding this!

There is an Andrew Connolly born April 17 1875 in Cavan registration district so he would have been 36 on Census night, father is Patrick, his job looks like something maker, next to impossible to read

Second from the bottom
He may not be your Andrew, Cavan isn't the only Reg district in Co. Cavan, you can find the other districts here https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php
And search here

Oh and welcome to RootsChat.
Added just seeing your reply, we found the same birth.

People weren't as fussy about spelling as we are today, names were spelt what ever way the person writing the record thought it was spelt.
-
Possibly a shoemaker, wouldn't expect to find a ship maker in Cavan.

That makes more sense lol. Any guesses on the mother's name? I tried to ask my family and no one could guess. Something Mc Something.
Also sorry but what am I supposed to do with the https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php website?
Thanks for the help!

That site gives all the Reg districts, just put in Cavan on the drop down list on the left.
And yes Mc something
Keep in mind it may not be the correct birth.

I believe those are the right people. The only thing I knew more was that my great grandfather (James; Andrew's son) had an aunt Mary. I wasn't sure who's side she was on. Since I just found a record that has a Mary Connolly being born with those parents, it has to be them. Or maybe it's just one big coincidence. That's the only thing that sucks about going that far is that there no real way to confirm. :'(

Could this be why you cant find him on 1901 census

If we could find all the children to this couple and than find marriages to see if the father changed occupation or not would help prove if this is the correct parents or not.
-
This is encouraging the same address as the marriage and born Cavan

Yes! I forgot about that. Andrew Connolly served in the Great War and the South African War. I completely forgot to add that to the context. Regiment No 2754 (Royal Irish Regiment) and T/309607 (Army Service Corps).

If that Mary is the same aunt Mary, then she married someone named William Murray. Immigrated to the US in 1908 died in 1951.

Did they marry in Ireland or America?

New Update that I thought was interesting:
I couldn't find anything to confirm those birth registers we found. However, I did find Ellen's death registry. (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1902/05706/4609594.pdf) What's interesting about this is that Sinnan found a census from 1901 (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Armagh/Portadown_Urban/Obin_Street/1030281/) that listed Ellen as being 92, but this death registry lists her as being 77 ??? ??? ??? . Weird. But it's definitely the same person since it was at 14 Obin Street and informed by Patrick (Son of Deceased). Other than that it says she was the widow of a saddler, no clue about the name though. I appreciate the help though and I hope you can help me with any other questions I have in the future assuming this isn't a dead end. I will try to help some people too since I learned some more searching techniques thanks to you guys.

I wondering if this family emigrated, they just seem to disappear, no sign of them in 1911.
