Hi
My name is Dennis Ford, I originate from Bolton-on-Dearne in South Yorkshire but have lived in Oz for the last thirty something years.
I am researching my ancestors mainly from south York’s’ with few known exceptions apart from the Halls from Wiltshire.
On my maternal grandparents side I have a modicum of information, the names I am interested in are Sales, Beech, Platts, Rotherforth, Peat, Proctor, Parkin, Daykin and Nightingale (possibly Florence’s family). Towns and villages of interest are Harthill, Wales, Woodhouse Mill, Thorpe Hesley and Whitwell.
Unfortunately due to my parents seperating when I was a child I have very little on my paternal side apart from the names of Dixon, Baines and of course Ford.
The names I can give are as follows
My Dad Jeffrey Ford lived Bolton on Dearne And Goldthorpe
His siblings George Ford policeman ( I think at Shipley)
Mary Ford lived near Wakefield
Fred Ford Habitual criminal
William Ford Miner - Bolton on Dearne
Jimmy Ford Musician
Nellie Ford Lived Thurnscoe
Ron Ford Miner Darfield
Their parents were William Henry Ford and Annie Baines
Their Grandparents Jacob and Annie Ford
Henry and Eliza Baines
Thier ggp's Joseph Baines and Emma Dixon
As stated earlier I don't have much, but the proximity of Bolton and Wath lend some chance of a possibility, so if any of this makes sense please reply

Hi I'm Carrie Ford. Daughter of Fred Ford. I still have connections with George Fords family who still live in Shipley and remember Ron, Mary, Nellie, Jimmy and William (and Elsie) well. I have my dads mum and dads wedding photo and photos of Nellie, Mary, Elsie, and plenty of Uncle Bills garden which was his pride and joy.

I used to love my grandad bills garden. There are pics of me as a baby on sun lounger in the garden. I used sit on the ornamental deer on patio lol. I remember Toby the dog too he used to follow my grandad everywhere. Nanan Elsie passed in May 03 I think it was my daughter was just 6 month old. God I miss them so much

Me too!! I'm pretty sure somewhere in the photo box from my mums there's newspaper clippings from when he won some competition or another! I'll try and dig it out. I vaguely remember uncle bill dying and auntie Elsie coming for visits after. My dad died 93. I'm sure he used to tell me there was 10 children all in all. All of the above and a few infant deaths. Two of them were twins and buried with his mum in an unmarked grave in Bolton xx

Hi Carrie I have just sent you an email.
It's great to hear about the Ford family because I knew so little about them as Mum and Dad split up when I was very young.

Hi think my dad has got there trophy and photo for them wining gardener of the year. I still live in bolton upon dearne. Think our family maybe last few of us still here. It's not changed much. My dad Derek days hi to you and Dennis. I have got some really happy memories of my grandad n nanan and Toby. I loved that grumpy old dog. Bill and Elsie used used to look after me a lot with being youngest and only being at school half days and mum dad were at work. If I am correct I'm sure grandad had an allotment near his house xx

Some info' here that I have recently exchanged with Carriew
It's great to hear all that information, some of which I already knew but much of which is news to me. I knew all of the family with the exception of your Dad until we met as said at my brother Tony's funeral in 1986. Both my wife and I were immediately struck by him; I suppose that was one of the reasons that he used to get away with some of the misdemeanour's that he got up to. Tony was only 37 and still serving in the R.A.F. he died of a massive heart attack only a few weeks after my father had died of the same ( thankfully my heart is considered to be very strong and healthy) I remember Aunty Mary and her daughters quite well as I stayed with the family a few times, I forget the village but it was just west of Wakefield, it's sad to hear that Helen died so young. As with your Dad, the last time I saw Aunty Mary was at Tony's funeral. I also knew Aunty Nelly very well, I used to visit her and her family - husband Uncle Sep (Septimus Latham)and her daughter Beryl who I last saw in Goldthorpe where she had a pet shop, however that was many years ago and I have no idea where she is these days. at that time Uncle Jimmy was living with Aunty Nelly and Uncle Sep. Uncle Ron is another that I used to visit, he lived at either number one or number three Howard street in Darfield. He worked in the lamproom at Hickleton colliery where he used to travel to on a pushbike with one of those little engines driving the back wheel, I remember spending quite some time helping him repair his replacement engines. Uncle Bill and Aunty Elsie lived not far from us and although not regular visitors we did call occasionally and I certainly remember the Garden (somewhere among my many relics I also have the cutting from the Mexborough and Swinton Times).
