Title: John Lane and Elizabeth Butler
Post by: Lorraine Brunt on Sunday 03 February 19 16:47 GMT (UK)
Hi Could anyone do a look up in North Wheatley parish records please I have a marriage for John Lane and Elizabeth Butler  13th September 1725 ,I found this information a long time ago.  NFHS marriage transcripts confirm this but loads of people on Ancestry have her down as Elizabeth Bartle  , not sure if I was blind when I was going through the parish records or if they have all copied each others information

Thank You in advance

Just to confuse, the Notts FH CD has Butler!

1725 09 13   John   LANE   Elizabeth   BUTLER   GROVE St Helen

I think you'll need someone to look at the actual register and see if it's legible.

Hi,

I can have a look at the register for you in Nottingham Archives when I'm there this week maybe Wednesday or Friday, hopefully it will be readable.

Hi Lorraine,

Went into the archives today. Well couldn't find the marriage of John Lane at Grove, it seems that the parish register's for Grove didn't start until 1726 and I check that year and some following years.  So not sure where the Notts FH got the marriage from.
When I go on Friday I'll check some of the surrounding parish churches.

Not sure either must be from the Bishops Transcripts which are from 1601

Thank You so much

Hi Lorraine,

Got the marriage from BT's Elizabeth surname is a little hard to read but to me it does look like Bartle but then again could be Butler.  I've a got copy so if you pm me your email address I can send it to you for you to look and make up your own mind.
