Hi
I have spent quite a few hours going over this and I think I have most of it worked out that I need to know here, but there are a few words/sentences that I simply can't make out and would love it if someone is able to assist here.
I have underlined the parts that I am struggling with.
This is the convict conduct record of my direct ancestor sent to Australia in 1822 and I would like to be able to finish the transcript of his record.
I have underlined the bits I cannot work out
Thank you very much in advance

Line 1/ reprimand = reprimanded
Line 5. Conduct 24 hours. Sol(itary) conf(inement) on B(read) & W(ater).
Last line but one:
...........7th Jan(uar)y 42. FS(?) Breach of Quarter Sess(ion)s Act fined 80/- & Costs
-
Assigned Servant .......
Breach of Quarter Sessions Act ?
more to come
Sorry, called away, F A M I L Y .... ::) ::)

Thank you for the parts transcribed so far, it is very helpful
-
Sorry.
I see re-reading this in the light of day I have put Fined 80/-
It should be 60/-.
-
Thank you again.
The very last line, I cannot make it out, but there is a report the following day on Trove that points to him having been committed to trial and I think it is very likely it is related to this record.
The only ones I am not sure of now, are line 7. It looks similar to the Quarter Sessions Act lower in the record that Majm references, but I am not sure that the first word in that is Quarter, unless it is a shorthand version of it.
Also in the one where it mentions Mr Wales on line 4, I was meant to underline also the word before Ass Serv.
So it appears to be Harbouring Mr Wales from .... Ass Serv + .... (REP?).
Mr Wales was actually the master that Solomon was assigned to in the 1830 Convict Muster.
-
I think the last line reads 'committing for Trial'
The ending of 'committing' is a bit difficult to make out - one would have thought it should say 'committed', but there would seem to be no 'd' at the end, whereas there is what looks like a 'g'.
I think you're probably right about Line 7.
Abbreviations for 'Quarter Sessions Act' - you can make our 'Act', and the middle abbreviation is 'Ses'....
-
I agree line 7 is: ...Qur Sess Act...
Line 4 - As per Majm: ...from Assd Servt Ross... (or Rass)
It's the long-s then short-s combination for ss.
-
Thanks again.
I think it all mainly makes sense except that one on line 4.
It suggests he is harbouring Mr Wales from assigned servitude?
And then what penalty.
As mentioned, what seems strange is that Mr Wales was actually who Solomon was not only assigned to, but spent months on the Gaol gang for destroying his provisions...
-
Thanks again.

I read it that he is harbouring Wales to keep Wales from being apprehended by Ross.
It's always worth searching the newspapers (in Trove) for the names and places. If you are lucky you can find out more about who these people were, even if you don't find records of your man's case.
There isn't a penalty for this one, suggesting he was charged but then discharged. You would have to check other records (most likely for the Police Court) to find out more.

Looking again at the fourth line, I don't think that word is from.
The second letter is an e, making ?em.
Can post post his name and the reference for his CON record?
I would like to see more of the top handwriting. (I don't have time now but can do it later.)

...name and the reference for his CON record?

I trimmed down the original image because it was over 500k, but can get a link to the original record. The Tasmanian archives seem to be timing out at the moment, but I will grab them when they are (only the links to images seem to be playing up) the search function is working.
And yeah the convict is as per Majm has noted
-
I see it as 'harbouring Mr Wales fem assd serv'. So having a bit of a tryst with Mr Wales convict maid?
Which kinda makes more sense ;)

Oh I think you have nailed it!!!
His wife also has a record from that day that I had not yet been able to work through deciphering (I will post that later today or tomorrow as I need some help with that also) that seems to indicate that she and Solomon harboured an Ellen Allen who was an Assigned Servant of Mr R Wales.
I have not looked up Ellen Allen yet and I could have the name wrong, but it is a corresponding record from the same day. That is absolutely brilliant that you picked up the Female Assigned Servant part.
Thank you all again so very much!

Glad I could be of help ;D

Thank you everyone again for helping to work through this and completing my transcription I really could not have done it without the help from you all
