Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could help with why a marriage that took place in 1879 would be advertised in 3 papers on the following dates ?
The Age 19th May 1904
The Argus 26th May 1904
The Australasian 4th June 1904
SMITH—TOOTELL.—On the 14th May, 1879, at St.
Mary's R. C. Presbytery, by the Rev. Father England,
William Henry Smith, native of Gotland,
Sweden, youngest son of Charles Smith, to Sarah
Ann, native of White Hills, Bendigo, eldest
daughter of Jacob Tootell, of Nottinghamshire,
England.
???
Thanks

1879 plus 25 = 1904 .... 25 year anniversary announcement perhaps

Hmm, didn't think of that !
It's not listed as an anniversary though

:) Was there any classified column heading for Silver Wedding Anniversary announcements in those newspapers in 1904 ...

No however my grandparents who married in 1910 had similar announcements every ten years or so in either The Argus of The Age :)
I read this as an anniversary announcement,

The entry above their's in The Age 19th May 1904 is for a Golden Wedding :)
