Yes there are 2 younger Kids by Elizabeth. Thanks for the GRO references.

Mary Daw Is called Foreign in the 41 Census, And It seems Pamela was born in Gibraltar, ( from army Chaplins returns) Then registered in England a year later.

I haven't found marriage or Death of Mary, but I'm not really familiar with english searching yet.
(my dad had heard her name was Maria)

Just looking in some Gibraltar records on Family Search and there is a family with a surname Daugh which might be worth tucking away as an alternate spellling of Daw.

The mother in this family is named Maria Daugh daughter Catalina born 1839 so a bit out time-wise.

Have you got the birth  Mary/Maria birth and are now looking for her marriage to Henry Cotton?

Thanks for the tip, no I don't have a Birth for Mary. I just have her name from her daughter Pamela's Birth certificate, and a census saying Foreign born, The girls later say Spain born (One was In army Chaplin's register Born in Gibraltar). Our family has talked of Spanish roots but living members don't know what except that my great grandfather was writing to Spanish govt in relation to land from New Zealand.

UPDATE: I've found a Gibraltar Census in 1834-  Mary Dawe 22, Catholic, widow. Child mary 1.5 Native. This would be about the right age, and has the older Daughter in the 1841 census. Still cant find Dawe or Cotton/ cotten weddings but closer.

Theres is a slight problem here. Pamelas Birth Cert should say Mary, formerly Daw, nee ???

That is of the 1834 Census you have is correct. Or maybe there was no Mr Daw?

On the other kids birth she gives her maiden name as Dyer and I have a Inhabitants survey( census) where she is a young widow under name Dawe living with a family of Dyers in Gibraltar.  I think they just filled the paperwork in wrong?
