Title: Indenture and other information
Post by: andi on Thursday 27 December 18 22:00 GMT (UK)
I have a copy on cd of an indenture (lease and release I think) from 1833 which talks of property/messuages in Bristol. It also mentions 3 other indentures dated 30 Sept 1793, 24 Jun 1795 and 26 Aug 1812.
Am I ever likely to find these indentures? I'm thinking not but someone may know more.

Also the deceased person on the 1833 document was a salt refiner in Bristol until his death in 1818 but I can't find much information about about him apart from marriage and baptisms. Surely someone that owned property would have left some kind of paper trail??
Any clues on where I could search for more information?

Have you tried searching here?
http://archives.bristol.gov.uk/

or National Archives?
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

If you can give the person's name, that would be helpful.

Hi, thanks for the replies, i will look again at the archives.
The name on the indenture is Thomas Skeaping. His son Richard and grandson John (son of his first born son Thomas) sign the indenture.
I know Thomas married Ann Isaac
02 Jul 1769 • St Phillip & St Jacobs, Bristol, Gloucester, England (3 children). He re marries Barbara Jones 22 Dec 1782 • St. Ewen'S, Bristol, Gloucester, England (5 children).
I have found no death for Ann or any of their children. I know son Thomas (1st marriage) survived and Richard and Elizabeth(2nd marriage) survived.
A relative visited Bristol archives and despite finding births no deaths could ( of his children) could be found even with help from archive staff.
I'm stumped.

Had a look at this tree on Ancestry - Samuel ISSAC 1709-1781 and Martha AVOKE - 1719-1772

Family Search has a christening at Bristol, 24 December 1754 (Non-Conformist Church Records) of

Ann ISAAC - father: Samuel and mother: Martha

Bristol Records Office holds the Will of Samuel ISAAC, Butcher of St Mary Radcliffe - 1797 - occupation, Butcher.

Checking with National Archives: Held at Bristol - Ancient Lease Corporation of Bristol, Samuel ISAAC, property, Redcliffe - Dr Owen etc - 22 May 1790.

If the ISSAC's  are non-conformists family, not sure where Ann would have been buried.

Thomas SKEAPING's marriage on Ancestry, notes surname: SCOPINGS or SCEAPINGS and there does appear marriages in Bristol with surname: SKAPING, SCAPENS etc.
