Title: Durham Records Online
Post by: scotty151 on Monday 17 December 18 16:11 GMT (UK)
Does anyone else use Durham Records Online?
I just bought an annual subscription last week and now for the last three days the site has been unobtainable.

I use it as and when I need to. I did notice that it was down a couple of days ago. They have been having quite a few problems recently with drives and servers.

It's a good site although I tend to "Pay as I Go" rather than subscribe.

I've tried several times today with no luck.

I've just sent them an email.

I agree it is a good site and as I am finding more and more Durham folk to research thought I would buy a subscription for a year rather than credits. I could not find an email address so will be interested to hear if you get a reply.

I could not find an email address

I have used them for years and had contacted them by email several times, so luckily the address was in my contacts list.

I was using it a few days ago, it was fine then but I tried it just now and the server wasn’t found.

Hopefully a just a glitch, I have an annual sub and found them very useful.

I did receive an email a few weeks ago stating there were having problems, I hope they resolve them soon.

I too had problems connecting. When this happens with a site I use
https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com

putting a domain name in there will see if the fault is at your end or the site itself. Looks like the site is totally down, again, its happened a few times recently.

I've not been on recently so can't comment, but for the last few weeks have been getting very strange emails from them which have gone straight into my junk file and have been blocked by me without reading. Not sure if the messages are really from Durham Records, and it seems to have started about the time they started having problems. I really like this site and use it a lot but buy credits rather than a subscription. Not very helpful I know but it worries me :( :( :(

I've used it a couple of times. I've found useful things on there. The most awkward moment was when I bought a cert on the offchance it was the person I'd been looking for (it wasn't) and DRO went "hey, someone else bought that cert too, it looks like you are related! Here, have each other's email addresses!"

Everything seems to be working well now. In the section of what is coming in the future some Lanchester area Registers. Lanchester is not so well represented at present.

You can switch this off under My Account, just un-tick Record Matching

Just had a look at the site, and got this,

We apologize for the site's inaccessibility over the past 2 days. We suffered another server crash - hard to believe, on the heels of the recent previous crash, but it happened. The site will probably be down for about a half an hour sometime in the next 4 hours so we can move everything to a server with better backup capabilities. After that, we expect to be operating normally.

Looks like things should be right later.

There is a facility to link people, who purchase the same.

Tick / Untick the appropriate box.

Very much closer to the end date than the start date  :D
