Hello Tracy67, just wondering where you have his birth and death dates? This web page has his death in 1894 (possibly not accurate as it contains 2 possible accounts of James' conviction - either for manslaughter in April 1833 or maliciously wounding in August 1833 - I would think it strange if they are the same man  :-\, my guess it would be the latter)
https://australianroyalty.net.au/individual.php?pid=I17863&ged=purnellmccord.ged

There are 3 possible deaths in NSW:
James J DENMEAD in 1876 (parents William J and Sarah)
James DENMEAD in 1894 (father John)
James DENMEADE in 1889 (father James)

There is also an item in the Sydney Mail in August 1863 which mentions a James DENMEAD, butcher - http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article166652270

Numerous other articles mention James DENMEAD, though it's hard to know if it is your James.
