If anyone could help with this wall, I'd be so grateful. Even just their full names would help.. The order for the full birth certificate of Stanley has been placed with the GRO but I'm impatient :D.
Their children were
Stanley Herbert 1923
Constance 1924
and also 'Ben' - short for Benjamin or a nickname?
Many thanks to anyone who may be able to

The only Constance Crompton I can see born 1924 has mmn Allum, not Hanlon.

There is no Crampton/Hanlon marriage on freebmd. If Hanlon had been previously married she would have remarried under her married name but childrens births will show her birth surname
Stanley’s birth checks out with details you give but there are no other Crampton/Hanlon births

She also has a sister born June qtr 1923 so can't be the same family as Stanley bn March qtr 1923

Stanley H Crampton (MarQ 1923, Royston) has mother Hanlon.

agree with Stanley's birth reg details, no marriage on find my past on civil indexes or parish.

This tree is being done for a friend and he was adamant that he had an 'auntie' Charlotte. However, in those days it was considered 'polite' and the done thing to call friends of parents 'Aunt' so I wonder if this is another fallacy. I have already tracked down his 'Scottish' grandparents who proved to have been in Dublin, Ireland. (Lucky person can now get himself a paddy passport and retain his freedom of the EU!) The one above was born in the right area at the right time so I will check her out further. Thanks very much. Yes Nanny Jan, that's where I got the name Hanlon above.

There is a tree on Ancestry showing Stanley’s birth as 4.2.1923 Anstey Herts but unknown parents
Marriage 1946 to Mary Josephine Mercer
Stanley died 2009
How does Auntie Charlotte become Constance?
Who is your friend descended from?
-
There's always the possibility that the parents said they were married......I have a few examples in my tree. ::)
Is there a chance that the parents married somewhere other than England/Wales?
-
SP has a 1912 marriage in Dundee between George Henry Crampton and Winifred Hanlon
There is also an 1890 birth for a Winifred Hanlon and a 1933 death in Cambridge for a Winifred Crampton b 1890
Constance 1924
Not in England as has been shown. SP has a 1917 birth in St Andrew (Dundee) for a Constance E Crampton you will find her on the 1939 register. Possibly married 1949 to Tomlin - see freebmd. Remarried 1987 to Delaney in Suffolk and died as Delaney 1990 Norfolk
A George L K Crampton was b Stirling 1915 died 1976 Isle of Wight (George Lawrence K)

It would be pointless researching these people further until Stanley's birth cert is received confirming parents christian names

Thank you all for your help.
The birth certificates were ordered and due any day now... the mystery should be resolved soon.
Merry Christmas to you all!

This may be of interest in case George Lawrence Kilpatrick Crampton (b 1915 & found by Carole) turns out to be from this family:

Your opening post said you had ordered Stanley’s birth cert which was back in November?? You should have received it by now confirming his parents christian names.
No other birth in England so no idea where “Ben” fits in
-
That Scotlandspeople site is fantastic, I never even knew it existed. Thanks very much Carole! I have made a note of George Crampton too to check if he is perhaps one of their children.
-
Yes, it was ordered but it has to come to France and it wasn't ordered on the expensive 'express' delivery service option. it was due to arrive yesterday but there have been a few 'disturbances' on the roads over here. It will arrive though..
