Post by: stav01 on Thursday 08 November 18 10:37 GMT (UK)
Good morning all. I am trying to find the medal index card for 371350 Rifleman  William ó Brien. He was killed in action and is commemorated on the Tyne cot memorial. Trouble is I can't find his Medal index card. Any help would be appricated. Thanks.

The blue circles were their objectives.
The whole of no man's land was deep mud & shell holes. They suffered heavy casualties as they got stuck with some men slipping into the shell holes & not being able to get out. They also lost their m/g & a number of rifles due to the deep mud. This & the moonlit night enabled the German m/g's, snipers & artillery easy targets. Some Platoons lost all of their men.
