John Fleming and Anne Buchanan were married in Falkirk in 1832. John worked as a nailer and the family moved to Lanarkshire for better work prospects. Anne died in Bridgeton in 1890; can anyone help with a date for John's death ?

Can you give us some sort of time frame...what censuses have you found John on? Was Anne a widow when she died in 1890?
-
Have you looked on Scotlands People for a death for him?
If you are looking for his actual date of death you will only get that by downloading a copy of his death cert
No Anne Fleming death in Bridgeton in 1890 on SP
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

1861 shows them in Stirling
John was 50 b Edinburgh occ nailer and Anne was also 50 b Falkirk
Are you sure you have the right death in 1890? Have you downloaded the death cert? The birthplace of the Anne Fleming in Bridgeton in 1881 is Beith Ayrshire?
The 1861 shows RD as Falkirk Landward and there is a John Fleming death in that RD in 1868 but he was 64

There are several deaths of Ann Fleming, other surname Buchanan, Three are in your time frame.
1864, Perth, aged 41
1867, Glasgow Blythswood, 74
1890, Glasgow Calton, 80

Thanks for all the replies. Ann died at 68 main street Bridgeton on 20th March 1890, widow of John Fleming nailmaker. Her daughter in law Jane Fleming was the informant. Perhaps Anne stayed with her son when she was widowed ?
The last census that John appeared in was the 1861 census in Falkirk. The family followed work taking them wherever. Their four eldest children have obviously left home by then.
I have many records from Scotlands People relating to the family and I am sure that John's death record will eventually turn up.

Was Ann aged 80 when she died? Death registered Calton?
She was still in Stirling in 1871 - b 1807 Falkirk and was widowed so John died between 1861 - 1871

I have a copy of the 1871 census for Camelon (just outside Falkirk) and you seem to correct. There are two children recorded daughter Ann aged 16 and son John aged 15. Slight problem given that their daughter Ann was born 1847 ? I wonder if a subsequent daughter was named after a dead sister.
Back to the drawing board.
Thanks for all the help

1861 shows her as granddaughter
-
It also shows her as a daughter

The last census that John appeared in was the 1861 census in Falkirk.

A possible;
FLEMING JOHN 57
BURDEN (mmn)
1868
485/ 85 Larbert (next door to Camelon)
or...
FLEMING JOHN 60
MCLAREN (mmn)
1869
479/1 177 Falkirk Burgh

1861 has Anne Fleming 14 daughter plus Anne Fleming 7 granddaughter - both b Falkirk
1871 has 2 x John Fleming - one shown as daughter aged 16 who is likely to be the granddaughter from the 1861 entry
Have you checked for birth of Anne born 1854/55 - likely she was illegitimate and there is a dtr Janet b 1837 on the 1841 who could be a candidate for her mother
-
SP has an 1856 birth reg for Anne Fleming in Falkirk Landward
EDIT
Birth is on FS and parents were Robert & Isabella nee Elder
-
John Fleming died in Camelon, Falkirk jn 1868 as suggested. Unfortunately there is no record of his parents on the death cert. His wife Anne Buchanan was the informant.
Thanks for all the suggestions

Can you list the names of his children in order please as this may help with parentage if the scottish naming pattern was in use?
Where was his PoB given on census records?

"names of first four children are John, James. Janet, Ann

Looks very like his parents could be James & Ann.
What about the other children as their names could help too with names being passed down, eliminating names from Anne's side etc. i.e. use all angles for possible help in identification?
