Title: Helen McLeod? Help with date
Post by: youngones82 on Saturday 20 October 18 23:16 BST (UK)
Can anyone help me with a possible date for this photo please?

I think it could be a picture of my grandfather's sisters. The younger sister was born in January 1936 and I am guessing the girl in the picture is around 3 so I am thinking (hoping) the picture is from 1939 but I wonder if someone could confirm?

I hope it is her as I have no other pictures of her. She died in November 1940 from Diphtheria. She has a ball in her hands which has a picture of a man and a woman on it but I am not sure who they are. Royals maybe?

Thanks for looking.

I would agree with your estimate.

The picture on the ball is surrounded by flags and surmounted by a crown and look, as far as I can make out, like King George Vl and Queen Elizabeth.
How sad that she died so young but that more or less pinpoints the date to the one you estimated - 1939.

Thanks both, it is good to know that it is her as I have wondered for a while if there were any photos of her.

I case anyone is interested, here is a picture of the boys of the family, the older brothers of the girls in the first picture. I think this was taken before the girls were born, probably about 1933. My Grandad (1929-2011) is on the left. Sadly his brother Ronnie died in Belgium in January 1945, aged 20.

This is one of only 3 photos I have of my Grandad as a child and as far as I know, there are no photos of all 4 siblings together.
