Hi,
I've just found a prison record with the abbreviation Imp in the education column - any ideas?
(The recipient was Irish Catholic)
Thanks
Dave

Imprisoned?
-
Not sure about that Milliepede, other entries in the column are either Nil or Imp. The column heading is definitely Education. There were no previous convictions.
-
It stands for Imperfect, or Imperfectly, and refers to the prisoner's ability to read/write.

Thanks Bookbox.

N: Neither read nor write
R: Read
Imp: Read and write imperfectly
W: Both well
Sup: Superior education
