Title: Edward Gove - Tower of London - Pardon
Post by: EmmaPettit on Tuesday 16 October 18 14:03 BST (UK)
Edward Gove. Committed under sentence of death from New Hampshire in the American Colonies charged with High Treason for levying war against the King.  - Removed to the Gatehouse Prison on 29 September 1683 and finally pardoned 9 March 1685/6.

I'm trying to find the pardon in the National archives, I assume this is where it would be?

Does anyone know how this document could be tracked down? There are terrible copies of it online. I have messaged a few people but no one seems to know where it originated from. So I'm trying to find the original. Anyone have any ideas. I have had no luck with my searches in the National archive online database so far.

Cheers.

I think this might be part of what you are looking for or was this what you found?

Scroll to halfway down the page.

Have you tried contacting the Nat. Arch. to ask if they have any records relating to the pardon?

Thank you,

I have seen that. I have my brother who lives in London going to look at them when he has time. But they are not exactly what I am looking for.

This page shows a copy of the pardon that I am searching for, but everyone I contact who is displaying this image has no idea exactly where it comes from or where the original is. So it's the actual pardon I am looking for.

I have not contacted the Archives themselves as the last time I did that about something else they directed me to a list of researchers that will look for me for a fee. They are rather costly with the exchange rate from Australia dollar to British pound so I was hoping to hunt it down myself somehow.

I have come across a blog by ladies called Pat and Kathie who mention Edward Gove:-

Are they anything to do with you?  If not you may like to email them to see if they can give you any further information about Edward.

On the dark grey panel on the right there is an email link.  They may know nothing more than you do but you may consider it worth contacting them.
