sorry if this isn't appropriate for this section but would be grateful for any signposts
I have found that our relatives arrived in Quebec on 20/5/1929 on SS Metagama. It says the purpose was land settlement in Alberta. However, the family arrived back in Liverpool again on 17/11/1929 so obviously things didn't work out.
the family are
William Pittham 29
Mary Pittham 29
William Pittham 5
Elizabeth Pittham 3
Kathleen Pittham 3 months
Is there any way I can find out more please? They lived in Wexford, Ireland
many thanks

Hi
If they were in Canada for such a short time you will probably find nothing there.
But maybe you can find something on this websites:
Alberta Homestead Records
https://archive.org/details/albertahomestead
University of Alberta Libraries - Newspapers
http://peel.library.ualberta.ca/newspapers/
Henderson Directories Edmonton & Strathcona
http://peel.library.ualberta.ca/bibliography/2962.html

For information, ancestry show family under "Pithman". (20/5/1929 - Metagama - as OP stated) Destined to Land Settlement Branch Edmonton Alberta. Had not been in Canada previously.
