Hi there
My great grandfather Michael convery died while working in England. I’ve found two records one from 1941 borrow in Furness and one from 1951 north Liverpool , both have the same birth date 1883. I believe one of these is my great grandfather. He was from maghera in county Derry. Is there anywhere I can go or can I get somebody to help me out on this? Where did he live and where is he buried etc? I cannot seem to find a Michael Convery in barrow in Furness in the 1939 registery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
By doing a free search of the 1939 register there is a Michael Convery born 1883 living in Liverpool with Eufrazia Convery born 1893. This Michael would be the most likely one who died in 1951.

The above Michael married in 1911, Liverpool to Ofrazia Valvona (Vol 8b Page 159)
You may need to purchase the death cert for the one in 1941 to ensure it is the correct one.

Freebmd has an 1883 Liverpool birth for Michael Convery so looks like your Michael could be the Barrow in Furness death

The 1901 Irish census only has 2 entries for his name in Maghera - one aged 76 and the other aged 30 (1871)
I can't see an Irish 1911 record for him in Maghera. Who did he marry and when?

There are possibilities in 1901/1911 for Michael Convery in Maghera area but more details need to narrow down the exact entry.
Could this be him? (remember a late November 1940 death could have registered in Jan./Mar.1941 quarter)
Convery Michael of Heysham Harbour Heysham county Lancashire England farmer and timekeeper died 30 November 1940 Administration Belfast 30 March to Patrick J. Convery farmer. Effects £258 15s.
I can't see a birth in 1883 in Magherafelt registration district (which covers Maghera). There is an 1882 birth in the area (Fallagloon townland, Maghera sub-district)- https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1882/02798/2027022.pdf
Same family?

Suspect it refers to this Michael. Heysham came under the Lancaster RD
Deaths December qtr 1940
Convery Michael 62 Lancaster 8e 1535

No 1939 entry for him. If he only came to England temporarily it could be his death in 1940 but that Michael was born around 1878 not 1883.
Ages on a death cert can vary and are very much dependant on who reported the death and how well they knew the deceased

http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/liverpoolrcbaptisms/baptisms.php
1883 - reference Number 1204
Michael Convery - baptised St Augustine church August 6th
father - Michael Convery - mother Jane Fegan - no sign on that site of Michael and Janes marriage -
hope this helps
:)
ADDED - I think Fegan is a mistranscription
1888 Ref No 1102 - same church - Thomas James Convery - baptism 1- 7 August ( I wonder should that read 17th ?? ) father Michael Convery - mother Jane FAGAN - FAGAN looks more likely to be right ...
look for the family in 1891 census to see if Michael senior was born in Ireland ??
