				Hi!
My 4th g-grandfather was born in Sandford in 1808, to James and Elizabeth.

He was a convict transported to Australia arriving 17/08/1834.
He was convicted on the 17/03/1831 for stealing straw.

On his convict indents - his marital status was listed as a 'widower'.
I have not been able to find a marriage for him on ancestry.

If someone has access to Parish records for this area, I would really appreciate it if you could have a look for his marriage. I assume he would have got married between 1826 and 1831.

 Thanks you!

				Hi Lauren,
There is a marriage at Cullompton on 17 Jul 1830 between Thomas Daw and Maria Brooks. This might be him.

				Hi Peter,

Thanks for that - is that near Sanford?

				Oh and Peter,

I don't suppose that there is a death entry for Maria soon after? His convict indents in Australia says he was a widow.

 Thanks again,

				Lauren,

According to Parloc, Cullompton is 12.8 miles from Sandford, so fairly close. I can't see a burial for Maria. There is a burial at Sandford in 1834 (06 Jan 1834) for a Mary Daw but she is 83 years old so likely to be a previous generation, I should think.

No sure if any of that helps.

No worries - thanks for your help Peter!  :)

In 2016 we went to my husband's relatives in Totnes, Devon but I didn't find out about Thomas Daw until a few months after we came home! So close but yet so far  :( It will a few years before I can get back over there again!

 regards,
 Lauren
