Hi,
I was looking for details on Fortune Randolph who was meant to have been born around 1774 in Redcliffe, Bristol, I also believe she married Nathaniel Gifford at some point between 1774-1830 when she died.
I can find her burial and an obituary listing her father as William Randolph and her husband as Mr Gifford, but that is it.
I was hoping someone might be able to find a baptism or a marriage. I have had no luck online.
Does anyone know if all the baptisms/marriages for this area have been put online, or whether you would still need to visit the actual archive for some records?
Thanks for any help.
John

Hi,
Thanks so much for that.
Is that a batch number? I don't see any records when I use it.
Thanks

You will find mention of Fortune here....

Thanks a lot for the help.
I wonder where they got the information though. I couldn't find an actual record of the marriage anywhere.
Maybe one day I'll visit the Bristol Archives. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the world haha.

If you just
Google:
Fortune Randolph and Nathaniel GUILFORD
There is a Geni.com tree which gives the parents of Fortune RANDOLPH as
Elizabeth (nee LITTLE) Born 1735, England and death: 23 September 1811 aged 76
William RANDOLPH - born 1727 Bristol and death 27 June 1791 aged 64 ***
who was the Son of Col. Isham RANDOLPH and Jane LILBURNE RANDOLPH
This lists Fortune's siblings et etc
----
**** The Will of William RANDOLPH, Merchant of Bristol 1791 - can be downloaded on Ancestry
England & Wales, Prerogative Court of Canterbury
It seems he wanted to be buried in the Church Yard of Saint Mary Radcliffe in the vault - plain and private matter, to be buried just in the sheet he died on and as plain a coffin as can be made without any ornaments.

Thanks a lot for the response. All interesting information.
I was hoping to prove she married Nathaniel. I am a decendant of Nathaniel and his second wife Ann, who had a daughter called Clara "Fortune" Gifford.

You probably already have this as you will be descended from her:-
Marriages Jun 1864
Gifford Clara Fortune W. Ham 4a 27
Turner Thomas W. Ham 4a 27

I do, but thanks anyway :)

I did manage to get a copy of Fortune's baptism and her marriage to Nathaniel from the Bristol Archive.
Thanks everyone for your help.
