John Pritchard Irwin was church of Ireland and I would appreciate any help in find his birth record. His father was George Irwin. Can anyone point me to the nearest Church of Ireland church in the vicinity?
Many thanks

There is a George Irwin marriage in 1897 to Mary Mcgrath the address given for both was given as Glenamoy. Married in Church of Ireland Belmullet by licence, fathers name George.
There is no place shown in 1856 Griffiths for Glenamoy, from searching it may not have been habitable at the time. George Irwin shown in Lenarevagh Kilcommon in Griffiths, most likely father.
1901 and 1911 George and wife are listed living in Lenarevagh Kilcommon, with daughter Sarah.
You could try Church of Ireland Belmullet for Baptism records for your John P Irwin may have been a relation.

Civil War in Mayo: The Battle of Glenamoy, 1922
by Thomas Langan. Originally published in the North Mayo Historical Journal Vol. 2, No. 1, 1987/8 as
"The Battle of Glenamoy"
In the issue of the Western People, dated the 23rd of September, 1922, the Erris correspondent begins:- "The little barony of Erris, which hitherto has enjoyed comparative peace, if we might except a few skirmishes of scarcely any military importance in the early days of the Civil War, has at length become the scene of military activities..........
The Irwin family, whose house was in the line of fire and was occupied by a bomb-thrower of the lrregulars, had some very providential escapes from death, the father's eyebrows being grazed by a bullet as he was lying in bed. The rest of the family saved themselves by lying prostrate on the floor

I too have been trying to locate a birth or baptism for him. When he married in Swansea he gave his fathers namecas George Orme Irwin. I can see a Irwin - Orme marriage but probably too early to have been his parents. Did you have any success in tracing his birth ?
-
Registration of Births only started 1864
-
Denis, no I didn't find a birth record but am assuming that George Orme was his father. What is your connection? I found a descendant who didnt know of John Pritchard, so if you can assure me of your genuine connection I will put you in touch with her.

Thanks. I am acquainted with Simon Irwin, youngest son of Cyril Frederick Irwin, and thus grandson of John Pritchard Irwin. Simon is keen to trace his Irish roots and has visited Co Mayo where he found a good deal of helpful suggestions but no actual records. Going by the few records that are online, and the citation of George Orme Irwin as John Pritchards father in the Swansea parish register entry for his wedding to Agnes Thorpe, I have tentatively assumed that George may well have been the son of the Irwin Orme marriage in 1816.
The only birth location given by John Pritchard Irwin to census takers was Glenmayo, but usually merely Mayo or just Ireland.
What Simon and I would really like to find are some parish records which would confirm John Pritchard’s parentage.

Why go to Mayo if the Registers are in Dublin (as per Page 3 of PDF posted)?

I fear so. Frustrating though!

I've just read your post on John Pritchard Irwin, he was my Great Grandfather on my maternal side, my grandmother was Ethel Agnus Irwin. It's nice to know there's still family members left.

Maybe the OP and other posters have progressed with their research in the interim, but if not, just to note the following man who may be related. I can see a Crossmolina Church of Ireland parish burial record transcript for a 'William Orme Irwin' who died at Glenamoy in 1899, here is the associated civil death registration (born c. 1844 if reported age is accurate):
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1899/05777/4633353.pdf
And a maybe for his marriage?
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1874/11231/8117434.pdf
Maybe also a death for his wife (described as 'Wife of Wm. O Irwin')?
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1881/06427/4846389.pdf
There is also a transcript of a burial record for a George Irwin of Glenamoy who died on 7 June 1862 at a reported age of 56 (maybe baptised 1804 and married to Anne? I can provide more detail if needed).

Thank you Gaffy. Where did you see the transcript of George Irwin's death in 1862?
This is all very helpful, for which many thanks.

Thanks Gaffy. I am sure this is relevant.
