Looking for info on Grants. Have Michael's marriage to Robina Ramsay in Ayrshire in 1855 age 26 giving birth in Monaghan.
Parents Robert and Mary Burns both deceased at that time.
Unable to find marriage for Robert and Mary.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have been looking for same marriage details for some time. On Michael's death cert it states Mother as Margaret Burns. Informant is son Robert. He could have been mistaken on his Grandmother's name but as Robina was still alive at the time you would think she would have told him the correct name. On the marriage cert it does look like Mary and you would think Michael would know the name of his Mother. Looking at the names of Michael's children Mary comes before Margaret so I think it more likely to be Mary. Unless of course she was named Margaret but was known as Mary!!
Would be helpful if we knew which part of Monaghan he came from. Will keep searching and post if I eventually come across details :)

Sarah Jane Grant, 66 Female, Presbyterian Born County Monaghan, Widow is the only Monaghan Born, Presbyterian on 1901 Census with Mary Elisabeth, 38, daughter born Antrim..
so just before Civil Reg for birth of daughter.
So, even if you look on Civil Reg for Marriages of Grants up to 1863 ( https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/civil-records/help/what-civil-records-are-on-line ) in the Districts for Co. Monaghan, ( https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/civil-records/help/what-civil-records-are-on-line ) and select Monaghan, they are not to be found!
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp and look for those in the 7 Districts from list on left.

Thanks for looking,
yes I have the marriage details of Michael and Robina from Scotlands People which state he was born in County Monaghan in 1825. His parents are noted as deceased on marriage cert. of 1855. His father is Robert and have been looking for his birth and marriage to Mary/Margaret Burns.

I haven't checked e.g. Marriages to 1875 to see if any were Monaghan, Presbyterians but certainly very few around!
