Title: Free weekend on Find My Past
Post by: AnneMc on Thursday 06 September 18 16:24 BST (UK)
Good morning from Canada

Hope I am on the right site.  I see that FindMyPast are having a free weekend starting Sept 7th..  My question is you have to create an account to access the site.  Will I have to go on and cancel account before the weekend is up so I don't get charged for a subcription?

Thank you

Cheers
Anne

As far as i know, register, ie give your name, your email address and create a password.  However, you do not have to subscribe.  Unless you want to dont tick any of the boxes either.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.  I now know what I am going to be doing this weekend. I will be doing research.

Cheers

I did the same thing 5 years ago.

Most of my relatives were in the Honourable East India Company. Ancestry gave me the references, but FindMyPast gave me the images. 91 documents downloaded over one weekend. Most were one page but there was a 10 page will, a list of all possessions going to auction (30+ pages), then another 30 + detailing how much it all went for, then a 5 page breakdown of how much each daughter got from the sale.
Then from the baptisms, I could see all the siblings that I knew nothing about.

It took me about 3 months to record it all.

I hope you have the same luck, I had - good hunting!

Regards

Chas
