Hi
Please can anyone help. I have Joseph Stevens marrying Margaret, I have a list of all their children, all born 1690's 1700's unfortunately I cannot find a marriage or any indication of where these two actually came from. Their children were born in West Wycombe, but that's as far as I have got. Any help would be appreciated really stuck with this, I have already got the wrong Joseph once and had to delete a few generations, just not sure where else to look
Kind Regards
Marcie
PS I've not been able so far to go to Aylesbury to check any further

When was their first child born, was it at West Wycombe

There's a will at Aylesbury for Joseph Stevens, blacksmith, of Lane End, West Wycombe, in 1732.
If that's him, it might have more information.

Hi Marcie
You posted . . . . . . I have Joseph Stevens marrying Margaret,
You also posted . . . I cannot find a marriage
Would you be so kind as to explain what you mean?
Thanks

Hi Ray
I have looked on Ancestry and the children's Baptism always says Father Joseph Stevens Mother Margaret, perhaps I shouldn't assume that the Parents were married

Hi Rosie99
All the children's baptisms say their Father was Joseph Stevens with mother Margaret, just assumed that the parents were married

Another source that might be useful is the Bucks Record Society publications, many of which are available online:
http://www.bucksrecsoc.org.uk/publications.html
For example the Ledger Book of High Wycombe:
http://www.bucksrecsoc.org.uk/BRSpub011.html
There were people named Stevens, including one Joseph Stevens in 1664/5, though this is probably too early to be the same person. (Page 177, item 262)
This Joseph Stevens was a Quaker. Do you know if your Joseph Stevens was Quaker? This might be another line of research.

Hi Vance
I made the mistake of thinking this Joseph was mine and did do quite a bit of research into his family, but it was incorrect. The Quakers are very interesting as I do have others in my tree who are Quakers, I found that really interesting as the surname is the same as my husbands but as yet I haven't found a connection between us even though his and my family are only a bout 10 miles apart.
Really appreciate your help it has helped enormously.
