Good evening. Can anyone work out who the witnesses were at the marriage of Gilbert Corlett and Dorothy Brough in Moresby, Cumberland 1789. I have tried every combination of letters possible but I can not find out who they are. I am hoping that they are related in some way.
Thank you

One looks like Valentine Hipston, the bottom one.I,ll look again
Viktoria.
P.s another says Hannah ? Her mark, meaning she signed with a cross.

So far I've got
Hannah ? ?
Valentine Higston
Richard Manderon(?)

Mandaron and Hipston are new. I shall try them. Thank you.

could that Valentine be Hesston?
-
It appears as though the word "Valentine" was written in a different hand. The letters are almost printed.
-
My first thought was Hisston or Hesston, and Manders. All the names are followed by an X and the last one has the X attached to the name so a written, it could actually be Mandersx.
-
The X'S are signed with a cross!

I thought Valentine Weston
(with a bit of the last upstroke of the W faded but with the little curl of the W still visible above the e).
:)
I can't work out Hannah's surname but I think some of the first letter is missing/faded/or there was not enough ink in the nib.

Thank you all. I shall search to see if I can find any of these people in Whitehaven.

Could it be Hannah Atkinson and Valentine Wigston? Not sure about Richard's surname, though.
